Turmeric is the God of natural anti-inflammatories. This turmeric smoothie is a perfect way of upping your turmeric intake. If you are suffering from inflammation then I recommend adding it to your diet. It is also good for time of the month, ladies.
What you need..
- almond milk
- frozen banana
- frozen mango
- turmeric – ground or fresh
- black pepper
- coconut oil
- small chunk of ginger or pinch of ground ginger
Blend until smooth and nice and creamy!
Adding black pepper with turmeric enhances the benefits, so it is good to always use the two together. Piperine, which is the key chemical in black pepper, aids the absorption of curcumin, which is the active ingredient in turmeric, and therefore increases the amount of curcumin that the body can absorb.
Using a healthy fat such as coconut oil will also help the absorption of the nutrients too. I always add some kind of healthy fat to all my smoothies. Healthy fat is also good for your skin and weight loss.
Be careful with Turmeric as it will stain your kitchen sides, especially the fresh kind 🙂
