Turmeric Porridge

Turmeric porridge is a perfect winter warming breakfast that comes with health benefits. I add Turmeric to a lot of my cooking as it is a great natural anti-inflammatory. It’s a really strong antioxidant and medicinal herb.

FYI – Adding black pepper to turmeric helps the┬ácurcumin absorb into the bloodstream better because of the piperine in black pepper. Don’t worry, you won’t taste it.

What you need:

  • Oats
  • dairy free milk
  • maple syrup
  • cashew butter
  • tsp maca powder – optional
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • small pinch of black pepper
  • teaspoon cacao
  • water

What to do:

Simply mix all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer for 5-7 minutes. You will be able to judge to yourself how much milk and water you need. I use approximately equal parts of each.

I like to top mine with some chocolate that I make by mixing cacao powder, coconut oil and maple syrup. I’ve also added toasted coconut and chopped apple.
